4 years agoKansas City Royals Rule 5 pitcher Stephen Woods Jr. turned his ankle while attempting to cover first base on a groundout on Saturday, and he was lifted from the game after he promptly walked the next two hitters. Woods was acquired through the Rule 5 draft this offseason, and he was considered a long shot to actually make the team before the injury. Woods was a stereotypical power pitcher out of college who could touch the high-90s with his fastball but lacked control. Giants coaches were able to improve his control, but his velocity was sacrificed. This injury could be the end of Woods' short KC career.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
