Trenton Cannon To Serve As Mike Davis' Backup

4 years agoWith Carolina Panthers running back Reggie Bonnafon (ankle) going on Injured Reserve this week, head coach Matt Rhule said that running back Trenton Cannon will serve as Mike Davis' backup. All-Pro Christian McCaffrey (ankle) is also on IR, so Carolina's running back depth is being tested. It's worth noting, but Cannon is unlikely to receive any fantasy run as long as Davis remains healthy, with McCaffrey hopefully returning from his high ankle injury in a few weeks. Davis should continue to see the lion's share of the backfield work in Week 5 against an 0-4 Falcons team. Ignore Cannon and treat Davis as a low-end RB1/high-end RB2 this weekend.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
