4 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Yimi Garcia blew the game (with an assist from manager Don Mattingly) in Game 1 of the National League Division Series. Garcia got just one out, allowing three runs on three hits. He also allowed two inherited runners to score. Starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara was inexplicably allowed to start the seventh inning for a fourth time through the Braves batting order. He allowed two base runners, and then Garcia, who had yet to come in with runners on base in 2020, was called on. He struggled mightily, coughing up a huge home run to Travis d'Arnaud. James Hoyt, the pitcher the Marlins used all season to come in with runners on base, then came on to pitch with the bases empty. It was a bad outing for Garcia, but it was a master class in bad managing by Mattingly, your 2020 National League Manager of the Year.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
