4 years agoHouston Astros manager Dusty Baker told reporters that it's "very unlikely" designated hitter Yordan Alvarez will play in the outfield this season. After a phenomenal rookie season in 2019, Alvarez' season last year was ravaged by knee ailments. He would undergo surgery on his right knee to repair a slight patellar tendon and also had a procedure done on his left knee. All of this has Baker monitoring the progress of Alvarez very closely throughout camp. When healthy, the 23-year-old can be an elite offensive weapon, as evidenced by his 1.067 OPS in 87 games as a rookie in 2019. But the talented hitter could be relegated to designated hitter only this season.--Joey C - RotoBaller
