ANALYSIS: It took Tua seven appearances and six starts, but he finally got things right right. Facing the Mighty Chiefs, Tagovailoa was able to put on his best pro-game to date racking up 28 FP while playing all of Miami's 83 offensive snaps. He put up season-high marks in completions, yards, and touchdowns. A pleasure to watch, indeed.
Tua completed 28 of 48 attempted passes (low 58.3%) and he reached 316 passing yards on the day while throwing two touchdowns against just one interception. That was Tua's first interception through seven games and 184 attempts, which isn't bad at all--Tua has the lowest INT/ATT ratio among QBs with at least 175 passing attempts on the year, with Aaron Rodgers ranking second (one interception every 112 passing attempts).
As if that wasn't good enough, Tua added 24 rushing yards... and most importantly a rushing touchdown to round his neat performance.
Miami sat Tua in Week 12 in favor of veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick, but that never made much sense. The Dolphins need to keep playing Tua, giving him reps, evaluating what they have in their hands, and go from there. And so far, so good for the rook.
Next week's matchup looks horrid on paper (New England, 3rd-best defense against fantasy QBs), but Tua closes the season against the 22nd- and 25th-best defenses at preventing FP from quarterbacks. If not for next weekend, make sure to get your hands on Tua for the last two games of the year if you like to have winning players in your roster.
