Though many are getting excited over David Johnson’s small, but impressive show vs. the Raiders Friday, it will predict very little of what’s to come in the regular season for the Cardinals.
Of course, on a base level, it’s just the preseason, and the games are meant much more for coaches and backup players than the true stars. The best players play very little in order to stay healthy, and, in order to keep fantasy players and all NFL fans happy throughout the season, it should probably stay that way.
For the Cardinals, however, the disconnect between the regular season and the preseason doesn’t stop there. During the regular season, Bruce Arians, the head coach, calls all of the offensive plays, but for the preseason, Arians will be letting offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin call the shots, according to an article published earlier this week.
For those expecting David Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Carson Palmer to tear it up in preparation of the regular season in the coming weeks, you may see some action, but don’t expect it to mean anything for your fantasy season.
