Recent Update

3 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Jason Adam was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday morning to take the place of Justin Grimm. Grimm was put on the disabled list with a right shoulder impingement. Adam was mildly effective last time he was with the big league squad, posting a 4.70 ERA in 14 short-relief appearances, but even that level of success is unlikely to be attained again. Adam had a perfect 100 percent strand rate during his first stint in KC, and it's extremely unlikely he can keep up that level moving forward. That's why his FIP is at 7.27, and fantasy owners should shy away from him unless he's learned some new tricks.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller

Older News

3 years agoThe Kansas City Royals optioned relief pitcher Jason Adam back to Triple-A Omaha on Friday. He was replaced on the roster by Brandon Maurer. Adam's first stint in the big leagues went pretty well, but there were a few hiccoughs along the way. Recently, he's struggled a bit as he had allowed solo home runs in each of his last two outings, but he's mostly a victim of circumstance in this demotion. Adam's making league minimum as a rookie while Maurer was signed to a $3 million deal for 2018. Now that Maurer seems to have worked out his timing with Triple-A hitters, it makes sense that the team would want to bring him back up to earn his money.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
