Billy Horschel Is Risky At BMW Championship
2 years agoAfter a very surprising missed cut last week, Billy Horschel comes into the BMW Championship needing to turn around his game before the Tour Championship. However, that won't be the easiest thing to do for Horschel this week. Playing a course with big greens will help Horschel's 68.64 % greens in regulation percentage but might expose his 113th ranked proximity to the hole. Looking closer, Horschel's proximity to the hole after hitting from the fairway is worse, 137th ranked on tour. In terms of DFS, Horschel's price is correct, being on the cheaper side of the lobby. Even with the cheap price, Horschel still has a fair amount of risk this week in Delaware.Source: PGA Tour
Maverick McNealy May Struggle At BMW Championship
2 years agoMaverick McNealy comes into the BMW Championship off a T31 finish last week at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. With the finish, McNealy is three spots out of the Tour Championship threshold but might have trouble getting inside the top-30 this week. Throughout the season, McNealy has struggled on approach, ranking just 108th in strokes gained on approach, and 168th in proximity to the hole. In his recent starts, McNealy hasn't hit over 70% of greens since June. Although McNealy is one of the better putters on the PGA Tour, his approach game will hold him back this week. Source: PGA Tour
Adam Scott Is Confusing To Figure Out
2 years agoAdam Scott put up a surprising T5 finish last week at the FedEx St. Jude after struggling at the course throughout his entire career. That came a week after Scott finished T76 at a course Scott has had major success at in Sedgefield Country Club. However, this week, course history isn't a factor for Scott as it's a first-time course on the PGA Tour. Scott does have some work to do if he wants to find himself at the Tour Championship next week, as he sits 155 points outside the top-30. If his game is any indication, and the projections for the course are correct, Scott should have a fair chance to make up those points. Scott sits inside the top-55 on tour in proximity to the hole, strokes gained on approach, and strokes gained putting. Last week, Scott gained well over a stroke on the greens, which is good momentum to carry into this week. Although he has been confusing recently, Scott is worth a look in all contests.Source: PGA Tour
Max Homa A Strong Option At The BMW
2 years agoMax Homa arrives at The BMW in 16th place in the FedEx Cup standings. After The BMW, the top 30 will head to Atlanta for the Tour Championship. If Homa is going to improve his positioning this week he must play better on approach. Homa has lost strokes on approach in two straight events. Although he has not played well as of late, he has had a strong season. Homa won The Wells Fargo and the Fortinet early in the season. Homa is not projected to be overly owned and makes for a good play. Source: PGA Tour
Cameron Young A Popular Choice To Win
2 years agoCameron Young has been gathering a lot of steam in the community this week. It makes sense as to why. Young is top 10 in a number of key metrics and he just witnessed his college teammate Zalatoris breakthrough for his first win last week. Although Young didn't finish in the top 25 last week, he played well in Memphis. Young gained strokes in all key metrics outside of putting. His highlight was gaining 8.4 strokes tee-to-green. He is a popular play, however, he looks to be in good form. Source: PGA Tour
Kevin Kisner May Be Undervalued
2 years agoAfter his strong Open Championship, Kevin Kisner has not been able to continue the momentum. He missed the cut at The Rocket Mortgage where he lost strokes in almost all key metrics. He rebounded nicely last week recording a top 25 place finish. Kisner also gained 5.2 strokes on approach in Memphis. It was his highest number he has gain on approach all season. Kisner figures to be low-owned and makes for a great sleeper option. Source: PGA Tour
Viktor Hovland Flying Under The Radar
2 years agoViktor Hovland has struggled some in the late spring and early summer. However, he seemed to turn his game around at The Open. Hovland finished in fourth place that week. Hovland returned to action last week at The FedEx St. Jude. He finished in 20th place, gaining strokes in all key metrics outside strokes gained around the green. Hovland is not carrying much ownership which makes him an interesting play in GPPs. Source: PGA Tour
Justin Thomas A Top Option At The BMW
2 years agoJustin Thomas recorded a 13th-place finish at The FedEx St. Jude Championship last week. Thomas played well from tee to green, gaining 8.3 strokes in that metric. It was a positive sign for Thomas, who struggled at The Scottish Open and Open Championship. Thomas is currently in 10th place in the FedEx Cup standings and will look to improve his standing this week. Thomas will look to lean on his strong ball-striking to perform well here. Thomas is a strong option in all fantasy formats.Source: PGA Tour
Tom Kim Gaining On Approach In 15 Consecutive Rounds
2 years agoTom Kim has gained strokes on approach in 15 consecutive rounds, gaining 1.4 strokes per round. He has below-average distance off the tee, but since playing on Tour this year, he has averaged a quarter of a stroke off the tee while leading this field in accuracy. His incredibly consistent ball-striking has seen him finish T13 or better in four of his last six starts, including a win at the Wyndham Championship. His lack of length off the tee may make him an in-form birdie-maker that goes overlooked at $9,000 in this week's no-cut event.Source: PGA Tour
Denny McCarthy Continues To Be High-Risk, High-Reward
2 years agoAt $7,000, Denny McCarthy has four top-20 finishes and three missed cuts in his last seven starts. His volatile approach play, complemented by a putter that has gained just shy of 100 strokes this year, makes McCarthy an intriguing cheaper option. He played over-par golf last weekend and still managed to finish T20 as a result of the seven strokes he gained on the field before the cut. If he can gain strokes on the ball-striking front, his putter offers incredible upside on a course with massive greens.Source: PGA Tour
Sam Burns Eyeing Fourth Win Of Season
2 years agoAt a course that will favor length, accurate short irons and great bent-grass putters, Sam Burns has an advantage. His driver has been a little errant lately, but the rest of his game suits this course well and he is going relatively under-owned in his price range. Burns has won three times this season, with underwhelming driving performances coming before most of his wins. He has gained 19.3 strokes putting in his three wins. The four strokes he gained putting in the final round of his Charles Schwab win was on bent grass, with Wilmington Country Club offering his flat stick a similar opportunity again this week.Source: PGA Tour
Scott Stallings Needs A Big Week
2 years agoAfter a streak of four consecutive top-15 finishes, Scott Stallings' magical run came to an abrupt end at the FedEx St. Jude. He missed the cut and lost strokes off the tee on approach and putting. It was the first time Stallings has missed the cut since the U.S. Open back in June. Stallings sits 47th in the FedEx Cup standings and is in need of a big week to qualify for the Tour Championship at East Lake. He has been playing some great golf leading up to the playoffs, but his performance last week is concerning. Stallings is one of the cheapest players in most DFS formats and will not be heavily owned, given the loaded field teeing it up this week. It could just be one bad week, but there are better players in this field who offer more upside.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Davis Riley Building Momentum
2 years agoDavis Riley is finding his groove at just the right time. He posted a 31st-place finish last week at the FedEx St. Jude and sits 27th overall in the FedEx Cup standings entering the second playoff event. It has not always been pretty this year for Riley, but one thing that has been constant is his ability to drive the golf ball. Riley has gained strokes off the tee in six straight events, gaining an impressive 4.1 strokes last week in Memphis. He has also been hot with his putter lately, gaining strokes in back-to-back weeks. In terms of DFS, Riley is a good option and very affordable in most formats. He will garner some ownership, but the loaded field should keep his number reasonable. He will need a big week to stay inside the top 30 and qualify for the Tour Championship.Source: https://www.pgatour.com/
Sungje Im Offers Discounted Upside
2 years agoSungjae Im enters the week with back-to-back second-place finishes and a T12. Since his return from The Open, he has averaged 2.73 strokes gained per round, striking the ball exceptionally while spiking with his putter. He finds himself at a slightly steeper price than public favorite Cameron Young, making him an ideal pivot at half the ownership. Im's 63 last week also shows that he possesses incredible upside when he gets in the groove.Source: PGA Tour
