5 months agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Yairo Munoz left Thursday’s game versus Miami early due to lower back spasms. Prior to his departure, Munoz went 0-for-2 at the dish, ceding way in left field to Tzu-Wei Lin. Having seen consistent playing time since making his season debut on Sept. 1, Munoz has compiled a .333 average through his first 12 games. Despite not having drawn a walk this year, Munoz has flashed potential with six extra-base hits and two stolen bases. 11 months agoThe Boston Red Sox signed infielder Yairo Munoz to a minor league deal on Wednesday. Munoz will provide middle infield depth for the Red Sox after he was released by the Cardinals. The 25-year-old Dominican has a .273/.331/.391 career slash in the big leagues in two seasons (196 games) while adding 10 home runs, 55 RBI and 13 stolen bases in his 465 at-bats with St. Louis. At best, he'll be middle infield depth for those in AL-only leagues if he's called up in 2020 as a utility man in Beantown.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
