6 months agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Adbert Alzolay only lasted 3 2/3 versus the Reds on Thursday. Alzolay was coming off of a rough start and gave up three hits, three runs, two walks and struck out a pair of Reds. The prospect figures to remain in the rotation with Jose Quintana (lat) and Tyler Chatwood (back) both on the 10-day injured list. Alzolay is a name to remember for 2021 drafts, but can be avoided in most formats for now. The Cubs have an off day coming up on Monday and it’s possible they skip Alzolay’s next turn in the rotation.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

6 months agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Adbert Alzolay will start against the Reds on Thursday, according to manager David Ross. Alzolay struggled and lasted only 2.2 innings in his last start, but he threw 78 pitches and appears to be fully stretched out. Alzolay will face a mediocre Cincinnati offense that’s posted a .726 OPS so far this season, and the team has struggled against curveballs (Alzolay’s best secondary pitch) with a .248 xwOBA against the pitch this season. That should have Alzolay on the radar of DFS players this week, as he could be a solid inexpensive option.--Sam Chinitz - RotoBaller
