Recent Update

7 months agoTexas Rangers outfielder Nick Solak is starting in left field on Sunday and batting second in the lineup against the Colorado Rockies. He was the talk of the town during spring training and has found his way onto the roster to start the season. Solak was a trendy sleeper in the fantasy baseball community this year. He started on Opening Day and batted eighth against German Marquez, but will occupy the two-hole against left-handed pitcher Kyle Freeland. If he can take advantage of today's matchup, Solak could see himself move up the order permanently. The Rangers have only scored three runs in their first two games, so an offensive explosion on Sunday would be timely for the team and Solak.--Euan Leith

Older News

8 months agoWith Texas Rangers outfielder Willie Calhoun (hip) expected to begin the season on the sidelines, manager Chris Woodward acknowledged that infielder Nick Solak "falls in line to take those at-bats." "His at-bats have been consistent in quality. I've been dying to find a way to get him regular at-bats. I'd lean towards that." Solak is going outside the top 300 players in fantasy drafts at the moment, but he has considerable sleeper appeal given his ability to hit for a useful average while supplying underrated power and position flexibility for his fantasy owners. He finished the 2019 season with five home runs and 17 RBI in his first 116 major league at-bats. The 25-year-old could turn some heads in mixed leagues if he gets enough plate appearances in his first full season in the bigs.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
