High-Priced Aces

These are your studs who are worth paying up for on this slate. It makes sense to deploy these guys as your cash game plays on FanDuel and as your SP1 on DraftKings based on their high floor/ceiling combination.

Corbin Burnes vs. MIA (11.1k FD, 10.4k DK)

Here's the uber chalk of the day, but it's really not fadable in cash (or maybe even GPPs). Burnes has been absolutely insane this season with a 47% strikeout rate, no walks, and has allowed only eight hits in 24 innings. He's facing a slumping Miami team that carries a 25.7% strikeout rate against RHP on the season. He's a home favorite and his price still doesn't reflect how good he's been (really only deGrom is in the same conversation right now). On FanDuel, he's going to eat up 50% or more of the ownership in GPPs and he'll probably approach 70-80% in cash.

Trevor Rogers @ MIL (9.6k FD, 8.4k DK)

Burnes opponent on the bump today is the young lefty Rogers, who has been darn good so far this season, too. He does have some walk issues, but has been getting whiffs at a 35.6% rate this season and is facing a Brewers lineup that is striking out 32% of the time against LHP. I am prioritizing him as my SP2 in cash games on DK and will have some GPP shares on FanDuel. He could end up outdueling Burnes, but even if he doesn't, there's a ton of strikeouts to be had here and not many right-handed bats to fear in this lineup either.

Mid-Tier Pivots

These are riskier plays who often go overlooked in the 7-9k price range, but have a lot of upside for tournaments and will save us some salary to spend on better hitters or another mid-tier pitcher (on DraftKings).

Shohei Ohtani @ TEX (9.1k FD, 7.7k DK)

Ohtani is my third favorite pitcher on this slate and DK didn't us any favors with his price tag at only 7.7k over there. He's only made two starts this season, but he's sporting a 34% strikeout rate through his first 9 innings. He struck out seven Rangers in his last start but also walked six, which ran up his pitch count and prevented him from getting through five innings. The strikeout upside is surely there and Texas continues to struggle to make contact with a 31% K rate against RHP. I will definitely be mixing him in with Rogers and Burnes in GPPs on DraftKings tonight.

Charlie Morton vs. CHC (8.6k FD, 8k DK)

I am a sucker for Morton and he keeps showing up in this article. He continues to pitch well for that Braves and gets a Cubs team at home tonight that is whiffing 27.5% of the time against RHP. The real issue is just his price as we don't get much of a discount on him here compared to Rogers and Ohtani, but that should also make him extremely low-owned, too. I would only consider him in some larger-field GPPs and I'm still unsure as to whether I will actually use him or not myself.

Sean Manaea @ TB (8.1k FD, 7.8k DK)

Here's a really sneaky option tonight on both sites! Manaea has quietly been really good this year. After a poor outing to start the year, he's bounced back to allow only three earned runs over his last three starts spanning 19 innings. This matchup is also intriguing as he gets a Tampa team that is striking out 29% of the time against LHP. He's in a positive park for pitchers and has an offense behind him that hammers left-handed pitching (good luck, Rich Hill). I see him going six strong innings tonight and picking up a win. He's my favorite cheap option on FanDuel and another nice SP2 pivot on DK off the chalkier Rogers and Ohtani.

Bargain Bin

These are the best value pitchers to use, either on FanDuel as your lone starter or on DraftKings as your SP2.

Deivi Garcia @ BAL (7.1k DK)

Garcia is making his first start of 2021 for the Yankees. He doesn't have big strikeout numbers, but he showed great control last season and had great soft contact numbers, too. It's certainly not a safe spot as the Orioles can be dangerous at home in Camden, but he does offer some salary savings here and is a potential pivot off some of the chalkier SP2 options on DraftKings (he's not in the FanDuel player pool)

UPDATE: He's now in the FD player pool and priced at $7,800. I am not sure I will have any exposure there at that price.
