Welcome, RotoBallers, to my official tiered rankings for week 4 of this NFL season! You can find my core plays at RB and WR each week in my Anchors column as well as the rest of my favorites plays in our premium cheat sheet.
The concept behind these rankings is to give you an idea of how to approach lineup building for this week's slate. I will rank all relevant players based on their point-per-dollar value in one of five tiers and then provide notes on each tier explaining how I plan to utilize each tier this week.
Tier 1 is going to have most of my favorite plays and likely a good bit of chalk, but you're not likely going to be able to build too many lineups ONLY using players from Tier 1.
Tiers 2 and 3 are going to have some players you will want to mix and match in lineups, likely at lower ownership than Tier 1.
Tiers 4 and 5 are players that I likely won't have much exposure to that week and are players that you should only consider in large field GPPs if you are going to be mass multi-entering a large number of lineups.
NFL Week 4 - Premium DFS Rankings
- Rankings are based primarily on DK pricing and are based on points-per-dollar value, not raw points.
- Core plays are highlighted in green boxes.
- Bold black font indicates the player is useable in all formats - tournaments and cash games.
- Bold blue font indicates the player is preferred for tournaments. These are usually lower-owned pivot plays.
- Red font indicates that I am fading that player, and wouldn't suggest any exposure to them even if you are making multiple builds.
- If a player is not on the chart, it's likely because they are only a part-time player on offense. I will attempt to update the rankings and notes each week on Saturday or Sunday morning once injury news becomes more concrete.
Tier 1 Notes:
Tier 1 is where we see core plays and the top values each week. This week it's tough because there are a lot of guys muddled together as far as projections go and there's a case to be made for a number of guys to be moved up or down into tier 1 or tier 2.
At running back, Derrick Henry makes sense for a raw points perspective, but I like Chubb and a few others like Swift, Taylor, or Gibson on a point-per-dollar basis.
Cooper Kupp is still up here as he's another raw points play that it makes sense to cram into lineups. Adams is a super safe target as well, while Ridley and Jefferson have slate-breaking upside in their spots. Metcalf and Cooper are great targets, too, with Amari being much too cheap for his ceiling. I really like Corey Davis at 5k on DK this week and I am even flirting with the idea of using him in cash.
Travis Kelce is in a class of his own this week (and most weeks) with Gesicki being a distant second as far as another TE I may consider as a cash
Tier 2 Notes:
This is usually the "GPP-tier" as we have a ton of tournament targets here. I have guys like Darnold, Zack Moss, and even Beasley/Sanders as potential cash plays. I really like Cordarelle Patterson this week and Brandon Aiyuk is another guy who really interests me in GPPs. Everyone in this tier will likely be in my player pool - or will be in consideration for me all the way up until Sunday morning.
Tier 3 Notes:
I don't trust Justin Fields in cash, but if there's a week to break out, it could certainly be this week against Detroit. NWI could easily become a cash game play at 3200 if Julio sits as Brown is already out. Jaylen Waddle is another guy to consider due to his high volume of targets last week with Jacoby Brissett under center.
Tight end starts to dry up pretty quickly but Evan Engram is a guy to consider if the Giants are down a few receivers. I'm back on a Barkley fade this week as the Saints have been elite against the run and I expect the Giants to struggle this week.
Tier 4 Notes:
This is where QBs go to die this week, with the lone exception of Jimmy G, who I have some mild interest in this week as the Niners get an elite matchup against the Seahawks and have not been able to run the ball well at all. Miles Sanders is here only because the Chiefs are terrible against the run, but I have very little confidence in them feeding him enough for him to pop off. Kareem Hunt feels like a chase after last week, but it's a great spot for the Browns rushing game.
There's a lot of Denver-Baltimore and New Orleans-NY Giants here in this tier and those two games that I am avoiding quite a bit with my lineups this week.
Tier 5 Notes:
As usual, there isn't much to see down here, mainly a bunch of fades or guys with little to no upside. I have Sony Michel and Darrell Henderson here based on the fact that if they both play, they are going to share the touches and this Rams team is trending more and more towards being a passing offense this year.
