Race #2 of the second round of the Monster Energy Cup Series Playoffs takes us to Talladega Superspeedway for the 1000Bulbs.com 500. While we always think of any plate track race as the great equalizer bringing the smaller teams in the mix, it just hasn't happened here at Talladega as Team Penske teammates Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano have won five of the last six and six of the last eight races here.
From a fantasy perspective, we are looking to build our lineups around place differential upside and another top strategy for the week is stacking teammates and like manufacturers who will be drafting together up until the final lap. With all that said, let's take a look at some of the top drivers this week.
Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Lineup Picks - 1000Bulbs.com 500
Joey Logano(DK-$10,700 FD-$12,500)
I will have exposure to all three Penske drivers this week but Logano is my favorite, especially in cash games as he comes at a discount from Keselowski. He has Top 5's in four of his last six trips to Talladega including three wins and will start 20th this week giving us near elite place differential upside.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr.(DK-$9,800 FD-$13,200)
Stenhouse is one of the best plate track drivers in the series and he proved it last year winning at both Daytona and here at Talladega. Looking at his last nine races here at Talladega, he has a win, six Top 10's and four Top 5 finishes. He doesn't provide elite place differential value this week but is starting outside the Top 10(12th) and with a top tier price, he is a GPP option only this week.
Paul Menard(DK-$7,800 FD-$8,800)
Menard ranks sixth overall in my model this week and that isn't even considering his value price tag on both sites. He provides us with a ton of place differential value starting 30th and looking at his last 10 races here at Talladega, he has finished 13th or better seven times and the other three finishes were crashes. Get him in your lineups in all formats.
Ty Dillon(DK-$6,000 FD-$6,500)
Way down in the $6K range on both sites we have Ty Dillon who ranks #4 in my model. He will start 29th giving us place differential upside, especially considering he has finished inside the Top 15 in all three of his career Cup races here. All things considered, he is a top target in all formats.
