2013 Fantasy Football Sleepers: Wide Receivers (WR)

In this article, we look around the NFL and provide analysis on 2013 fantasy football sleeper wide receivers (WR).

2013 Fantasy Football Sleepers – Wide Receivers

The NFL season is nearly here, but for those of you with fantasy drafts still taking place,  here are three more solid wide receiver sleepers to consider on fantasy football draft day.

Justin Blackmon (WR, JAX) - It doesn't seem so farfetched that we would tout Justin Blackmon as a sleeper wide receiver heading into 2013, as the second-year player from Oklahoma State begins the season on a four-week suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.  Had it not been for off-field issues, the Jaguars #1A WR would most likely be targetable in the first 10 rounds of any PPR league drafts.  Although things started off a bit slowly last year, Blackmon had a productive rookie campaign, putting up 64 receptions for  865 yard and five touchdowns.  He managed to average 13.5 YPR, which is respectable for a first-year player who was on a very bad offense with a very green quarterback.  Although his teammate Cecil Shorts is the true ace wideout, upon his return Blackmon should receive a solid amount of targets per game, and for that reason we like him as a late-round sleeper or post-draft waiver wire add.

Rotoballer-Fantasy-Football-Advice-Rueban RandleRueben Randle (WR, NYG) - With the Giants' receiving corp in shambles already heading into the season, there will be plenty of room for some new talent to emerge, and many experts believe that the Giants second-round pick from the 2012 draft out of LSU is poised to be that guy.  Racking up 15.7 YPC in limited duty last season, Randle will be relied upon for a much bigger role in the Giants' pass-heavy offense in 2013.  Keep in mind that Victor Cruz's foot injury, coupled with Hakeem Nix's weekly battle with the injury bug, elevates Rueben Randle's sleeper potential to magnificent proportions.  With his current ADP at 129.5 (12th round in a 10-team league), we think he is a great WR6-7 that you can take a flier on with low risk on draft day who may have an impact as soon as Week 1.

James Jones (WR, GB) - With a few solid seasons of being Aaron Rodger's go-to goal-line receiver under his belt, we have seen the draft day status of James Jones rise very high in 2013, as he is currently hovering in the seventh-round of most drafts with an ADP of 71.5.  That said, the Packers' 2007 third-round pick may still outperform his value, and the reasons are in abundance.  Let's start with the fact that his targets and receptions have gone up every season since he entered the league (with the exception of 2011, a season in which he still caught seven TDs), culminating in a huge season last year during which caught 64 passes on 98 targets for 784 yards and a ridiculous 14 touchdowns.  You can't expect those kinds of Bugs Bunny numbers every year, but with Greg Jennings leaving town, and Jones's reliability and chemistry with Aaron Rodgers solidifying as each year passes, we think you can bank on James Jones for about 65 catches, 750 yards and 10 TD in 2013, making him one of the Packers' sneakiest weapons on offense for fantasy owners.
