- I will try to keep these waiver selections fresh every week and not repeat anyone.
- I will only recommend players that are lower than 25% ownership in Yahoo! or ESPN leagues.
With that said lets get to the recommendations.
Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 4 - 2013 Fantasy Football
Wide Receivers (WR) & Defense (DEF)
Santonio Holmes, WR, New York Jets
BALLER MOVE: Add in Standard Leagues (10+ teams)
ANALYSIS: Santonio Holmes has been battling injuries for the past couple of years and this past weekend he showed that he can perform when he's healthy. He had 5 catches for 154 yards and 1 TD, but at this time he still doesn't look like he's 100% (or maybe he's not in top shape). I expect that Holmes will have some rough patches through the year but will be very valuable (especially on bye weeks) if he can stay healthy throughout the year. If you are mining for some deep wide receivers, he might be a nice option for you.
Nate Washington, WR, Tennessee Titans
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues (12+ teams PPR and standard)
ANALYSIS: If you follow the Tennessee Titans you probably know that Kenny Britt is in the dog house. If you don't follow the Titans, now you're in the know. What this means is that Washington will have a chance to step up and be the #1 WR on the Titans (which Britt supposedly held - although he hasn't shown it in at least a couple of years). This past weekend Washington did not disappoint with 10 targets, 8 catches and 131 yards. If you are in a PPR league the targets and receptions are critical pieces of information and can help you understand if the player is a fluke or not. So far on the season, Washington has had 23 targets, a little over 7 targets a game which isn't bad at all. His QB, Jake Locker, will also limit his upside, and I do believe that Washington will have peaks and valleys in the season but he's a nice flex or matchup play in PPR leagues. Keep an eye out for Kendall Wright too as he may steal some of Washington's targets.
Santana Moss, WR, Washington Redskins
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues (12+ teams PPR)
ANALYSIS: Santana Moss is steadily posting solid numbers (catches & targets) each week this season. Why? The Washington Defense is terrible! This means that the Redskins will be playing from behind most of the season which requires a lot of passing plays. Therefore Moss will get plenty of opportunities. So far on the year he has 23 targets which would put him over 115 targets over the full year, which would be the highest total he's seen since 2010. Moss is getting up there in age (he's been in the league since 2001) but will be reliable if you are in a PPR league. He's certainly not a fantastic WR option but he is a viable choice on bye weeks or if you have an injury depleted WR corps.
Indianapolis Colts, DEF
BALLER MOVE: Add in Standard Leagues (10+ teams)
ANALYSIS: This is a matchup play recommendation as the Colts will be playing the Jaguars in week 4. Last week the Colts defense did very well against the 49ers (3 sacks, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery) and I expect them to play well against an atrocious Jaguars offense.
Kansas City Chiefs, DEF
BALLER MOVE: Add Immediately All Leagues (8+ teams)
ANALYSIS: Its amazing how good the Chiefs defense has been. Last week versus the Eagles they had 6 sacks, 2 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, and 1 TD. The defense on the season has 15 sacks, 4 interceptions, 2 TDs, and 5 fumble recoveries. To make them even more appealing they are playing the Giants who just got stomped by the Carolina Panthers and look entirely inept. The Giants offensive line played like swiss cheese so you can expect the Chiefs to rack up a handful of sacks. If the Chiefs are available in your league pick them up immediately!
Special IDP Leagues Waiver Wire Addition
Karlos Dansby, IDP - LB, Tennessee Titans
BALLER MOVE: Add in Standard Leagues (10+ teams IDP Leagues)
ANALYSIS: Last year Dansby posted a career high 101 solo tackles at Miami and has returned back to Arizona, where his career started, to continue his tackling machine ways. On the season Dansby has 28 solo tackles and has posted 3 solid weeks in a row with over 8 tackles. If you are in an IDP league, scoop up Dansby and reap the rewards of his efforts.
