Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 8 Tight Ends
Jordan Reed - Washington Redskins
Reed had a spectacular game this week, catching nine passes for 134 yards and a touchdown. This was a vast improvement over his last two games where he managed a total of nine receptions for 108 yards. In Week Eight, the matchup is in Reed's favor, as he faces a Denver Broncos team that is giving up 337.7 pass yards a game. He should definitely be started going into next Sunday.
Heath Miller - Pittsburgh Steelers
Miller had a less-than-stellar game with just two catches for 17 yards, but he did manage one TD. He did have a drop-off in production, but this was his first sub-par game of the season. He has a chance to redeem himself against the Oakland Raiders in Week Eight, as they are giving up 241 yards through the air per game. I expect that he'll bounce back and have a solid game.
Coby Fleener - Indianapolis Colts
Fleener played a good game against the Broncos, catching five passes for 38 yards and had a touchdown. This was the first game he had a touchdown since Week Four against the Jaguars, and he's starting to get more receiving yards. The team has a bye in Week Eight, but the following week Fleener goes up against a good Houston Texans defense that surrenders just 145.6 yards per game through the air. This is one game where it might not be the smartest move to start him.
Jeff Cumberland - New York Jets
Cumberland had a fairly solid game against the Patriots with three grabs for 41 yards. This was the third consecutive game in which he played well, as in his two previous contests he had a total of seven catches for 138 yards and one TD. He is emerging as a one of Geno Smith's favorite options, but he will have a challenge next week facing a good Bengals team that gives up just 236.4 pass yards per game.
Tim Wright - Tampa Bay Bucs
After having a huge game a week ago, Wright dropped back to reality with just two catches for 15 yards against Atlanta. He's shown that he can have good games this season against teams that have issues defending the pass. It was kind of shocking how much he struggled in this game. He will face a Panthers team that knows how to defend the pass well as they allow just 217.7 passing yards per game. This could a tough matchup for Wright, and another game in which he struggles once again to put up good numbers.
