Ryan Zimmerman (1B/3B/OF, WSH) - 2015 Fantasy Baseball Sleeper

BALLER MOVE: Target in Middle Rounds

ANALYSIS: During an injury-plagued 2014 campaign, Ryan Zimmerman posted a .280/.342/.449 triple-slash line, just below his career line of .286/.352/.476. However, there was a drastic decrease in his power, as his 7.8% HR/FB rate was by far the lowest of his career. Back from his hamstring injury, Zimmerman should return to his career average of 13.3% HR/FB. He is no longer a gold glover, but the departure of Adam LaRoche opens the door for Zimmerman to move to first base, where throwing should be less of an issue.

Considering his low overall numbers from 2014, it’s safe to assume that Zimmerman will fall in most drafts. If he does drop to the middle or late rounds, don’t be afraid to jump on him to get maximum value. If he stays healthy, Zim should reach the 20 HR/80 RBI plateau with a .280 AVG by season’s end. Eligibility at 1B, 3B and OF in most leagues gives some him added roster flexibility and fantasy value.
