BALLER MOVE: Target as SP3
ANALYSIS: From 2008-2013, Cliff Lee averaged 31 GS, 14 W, 222 IP, 33 BB and 200 K, along with a 2.90 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, despite pitching in the bandbox that is Citizen’s Bank Park. Lee made only 13 starts in 2014 and was a non-factor in the fantasy baseball world as a result of his left elbow soreness. While his record, walks and strike-out numbers were on par with previous seasons, but he allowed more hits, leading to a .358 BABIP and an unimpressive 1.38 WHIP.
As assembled, the Phillies are looking at a 70-win season and a last place finish in the NL East, but Lee could be traded sooner than later. At 36, Lee's elbow injury could show its face again, but when he is on the field, I do think he will be a good pitcher. He's a risk, but if he falls into your lap late, you can do far worse than a former ace like Cliff Lee. He is the definition of a high-risk, high-reward option for the 2015 season.
