BALLER MOVE: Target in Late Rounds

ANALYSIS: It was hard not to like Marvin Jones coming off a 51-712-10 line in 2013 at the age of 23. He was originally set to miss four games in 2014 with foot and ankle injuries, but ended up missing the entire season. Heading into 2015, Jones is once again expected to be the number two wideout in Cincy. However, there is no hype this time, as his FantasyPros ADP is WR62, likely undrafted in 12-team leagues.
Andy Dalton threw for just 19 touchdowns last year, after tossing 33 in 2013. He also made over 100 fewer pass attempts in 2014. This could be OC Hue Jackson wisely adjusting to the players he had at the time, since the Bengals were plagued by injuries to their receiving corps.
Mohamed Sanu’s 97 targets last year seems like a reasonable projection in 2015 for Jones, who should finally be a true number two receiver, given that Sanu totaled just 162 yards and a single touchdown over the final eight games. With that many targets, Jones should be able to exceed his 2013 catch rate of 66.2%, meaning we can project a 65-900-5 season, equivalent to 120 fantasy points in standard leagues, which would have made him the 31st highest scoring WR in 2014.
Long-term issues from his foot and ankle injuries could still be a concern, but when talking about the minimal investment required for a late-round draft pick, Marvin Jones has too much upside to pass on.
