BALLER MOVE: Target ~170
CURRENT ADP: 178.3
ANALYSIS: After three years in Buffalo, the quality of Chris Hogan's quarterback play will vastly increase with Tom Brady throwing the football for most of the year.
The Patriots have Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola, both of whom have a strong comfort level with Brady. Plus, the Patriots heavily favor two tight end sets, so Hogan’s playing time is far from guaranteed right now. He is built to play in the slot, so even if he does get an opportunity on the outside, gauging his effectiveness is difficult.
However, both Amendola and Edelman are both coming off recent surgeries and have a history of durability issues. If one or both of them were to miss any time in the regular season, Hogan, who hasn’t missed a game in his three-year career, would slide right back into the slot.
There's an real chance Hogan gets lost in the sauce if New England’s offense is healthy and rolling by Brady's return. Between multiple running backs, the heavy dose of a dual-tight end set and the possibility of both of Brady's favorite targets returning healthy, Hogan's ability to make an impact can be limited. That being said, there's no denying he's a player to keep an eye on in the later rounds of drafts.
