Position, Team, NFL Draft Spot: QB, Oakland Raiders, 4.02
Dynasty Positional Rank: 40+
Redraft Target Round: Unranked, not viable for 2016
Analysis: There were talks about Cook being selected in the first round, but according the people with knowledge of multiple NFL teams plans, that was never a realistic option. That became more apparent as Cook fell to the fourth round before being selected by the Oakland Raiders.
Cook started three seasons in a pro-style offense at Michigan State in college. He was seen as somewhat of one of the more NFL ready quarterbacks in the NFL Draft. That won’t matter this season, though, as he is stuck behind Derek Carr, who is the future of the Raiders franchise. Cook shouldn’t be selected in re-draft leagues.
Cook has a dynasty outlook seems as if it’s a mirror image of Kirk Cousins, who was also a quarterback out of Michigan State, who was drafted to be a backup. While they don’t have the same skill set, Cook will need to sit behind a starter for the first few years of his career. If Cook ever gets the opportunity to start in the NFL, he will have good potential. That’s at least a few years away, though, and he’s only worth a stash in extremely deep dynasty leagues.
