Position, Team, Draft Spot: RB, Denver Broncos, 4.38
Dynasty Positional Rank: 48
Redraft Target Round: Mid- to late-round selection
Analysis: Booker was the next running back off the board. The Denver Broncos selected him with a compensatory pick in the fourth round. While that may not be the best landing spot for his immediate fantasy impact, it certainly gives him great upside in dynasty leagues.
John Elway suggested that Devontae Booker could have an immediate role for the Broncos this season. I don’t see that being the case, however, as he has little experience returning the ball and he’s stuck behind C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman on the depth chart. He could sneak into the offense on third downs late in the season, but Booker isn’t a great fantasy option in re-draft leagues.
Booker’s dynasty outlook is significantly brighter, though. He was an elite player at Utah, running for 2,773 yards and 21 touchdowns, while also recording 80 receptions, 622 yards, and 2 touchdowns in only two seasons. He’s an elusive running back with good vision and footwork. There is very little reason to believe he won’t be successful in the NFL and he could overtake C.J. Anderson as the Broncos lead back in the next couple of years. At worst, he’ll be a running back that splits carries and plays the majority of third downs. He’s a great dynasty prospect if you have a team that can wait for him to get his opportunity.
