Poistion, Team, NFL Draft Spot: TE, San Diego Chargers, 2.04
Dynasty Positional Rank: 15
Redraft Target Round: Late round selection
Analysis: There was an outside chance that Henry was going to hear his name called on the first day of the NFL Draft, but that did not happen. Instead, the Chargers selected him early in the second round, and Henry was the clear cut best tight end in this draft class.
Henry will spend his first season behind Antonio Gates, but that does not mean he will not play at all. Henry is an NFL ready tight end with great receiving abilities. He can also block well, which may help get him on the field early in his career. He certainly will be a factor in his rookie season, but he is not someone to overpay for, as he will need an injury to Antonio Gates to be a great fantasy asset this season.
Henry has an outstanding outlook in dynasty leagues. He’s a great receiving tight end and he’ll have his rookie season to learn from one of the best tight ends in NFL history. Henry was a very productive receiver in college, and he should bring that mentality to the pros. The Chargers have been utilizing their tight ends in the passing game for years now, and Henry will fit right now once Gates retires. He’s an elite dynasty asset if you have a couple of years to wait on him.
