2016 NFL Draft Analysis for Fantasy Football - Wide Receiver Kenny Lawler

Position, Team, NFL Draft Spot: WR, Seattle Seahawks, 7.22

Dynasty Positional Rank: 100+

Redraft Target Round: Unranked, not viable for 2016

Analysis: Lawler led the Cal Bears in receptions and touchdowns last season, but he was taken nearly two rounds after Trevor Davis. This came as a surprise, as did Lawler’s fall on draft day. He nearly went undrafted, but the Seahawks selected him late in the seventh round.

Lawler likely isn’t going to get a chance to play much his rookie season. He’ll be stuck fifth on the depth chart, and he will need a couple injuries to work his way onto the field. He shouldn’t be considered in re-draft leagues.

Lawler is never going to be the fastest wide receiver on the field, but he is quick in and out of his breaks and he has tremendous ball skills. He was extremely productive at California, as he recorded 143 receptions, 1,706 yards, and 27 touchdowns in 34 career games. He’s buried on the Seahawks depth chart, but he could be a solid possession receiver in the NFL and he could be a target in the red zone later in his career. The Seahawks had four receivers with nearly 50 receptions last season, and Lawler is a decent option in deep dynasty leagues.
