Position, Team, NFL Draft Spot: WR, Minnesota Vikings, 1.23
Dynasty Positional Rank: 28
Redraft Target Round: Mid-round selection
Analysis: Treadwell was viewed as the top wide receiver prospect for the majority of the draft process, but he fell quite a bit after running a 4.63 40-yard dash at his Pro Day. It shouldn’t have been all that surprising, though, as every knew Treadwell wasn’t going to be a burner in the NFL. The Vikings stopped his draft day slide, as they made him the third consecutive wide receiver taken after Fuller and Doctson.
Treadwell is an NFL ready prospect and he’s going to step into a starting role from day one for Minnesota. He isn’t a flashy receiver, but he has a big body and sure hands. His game has been compared to DeAndre Hopkins, which is high praise. He will be limited a bit by the offense that he’s playing on, as the Vikings will be riding Adrian Peterson. Treadwell could also see a lot of single coverage until he proves himself, as teams could be focusing more of Stefon Diggs, who had a break out season a year ago. Treadwell could be a consistent option in terms of fantasy in his rookie season, but he has limited upside due to the offense he’s playing on.
Treadwell has the upside to become a number one receiver in the NFL. This will likely be the case at some point in his career, but he isn’t in the best situation in terms of fantasy. The Vikings will likely continue to ride Adrian Peterson for the next few years. That will limit the opportunities for Treadwell, especially with Stefon Diggs also getting his work in the offense. Bridgewater is a solid quarterback, but he doesn’t possess the upside to allow Treadwell to thrive in terms of fantasy.
