Position, Team, NFL Draft Spot: WR, Miami Dolphins, 3.23
Dynasty Positional Rank: 60
Redraft Target Round: Late round selection
Analysis: The Dolphins would be the next team to trade up for a wide receiver in this draft, as they traded three picks to move up for Leonte Carroo late in the third round.
Carroo had a few off the field issues at Rutgers that cost him a few games and that’s always something to be concerned with in the NFL. Some players change their ways, while others find themselves out of the league after displaying promising careers. The Dolphins trading up shows that they certainly want Carroo to be part of their future, but he’ll have a tough time playing significant snaps this season. He’s behind DeVante Parker, Jarvis Landry, and Kenny Stills on the depth chart. Even if he gets on the field, Carroo wouldn’t be Tannehill’s first look, and he doesn’t have much value in a re-draft league.
Carroo displayed his talents at Rutgers, as he recorded 122 catches for 2,373 yards and 29 touchdowns in only 30 career games. He’s a big receiver with great hands and he had a knack for finding the end zone in college. His upside is a bit limited, though, as the Dolphins offense will likely focus much more on Landry and Parker in the passing game over Carroo for at least the next few years. He’s an intriguing prospect in dynasty leagues, but he isn’t anyone to drool over at this point.
