Position, Team, NFL Draft Spot: WR, Houston Texans, 1.21
Dynasty Positional Rank: 55
Redraft Target Round: Late round selection
Analysis: Fuller was one of the easier picks in the NFL Draft, as many people, including myself, had him mocked to the Texans. The most surprising aspect of this pick is that the Texans traded up one pick with the Redskins, who likely did not have Fuller on their radar. That shows that the Texans wanted to add Fuller, and they had no problem giving up the extra pick to ensure that happened.
Fuller flashed his blazing speed at the NFL Combine, as he ran a 4.32 40-yard dash. He also showed off his hands after struggling to catch the ball in his final season at Notre Dame. Fuller will immediately step on the field for the Texans as a deep threat, but that is likely all he is going to be. They love feeding DeAndre Hopkins the ball and that isn’t going to change this season. Fuller has good upside because he can score from anywhere on the field, but he’s my least favorite first round receiver in re-draft leagues.
It’s tough to assume Fuller is going to be anything more than a deep threat throughout his career, as he has a small frame and questionable hands. He’s also going to be stuck behind DeAndre Hopkins, who is only 23 years old, for most of his career. While it isn’t out of the question that Fuller develops into more than a deep threat, he isn’t a guy that I’m targeting this season or in dynasty leagues unless he falls quite a bit in the draft.
