Falcons Restructuring Matt Ryan's Contract
3 years agoThe Atlanta Falcons are restructuring quarterback Matt Ryan's contract to clear salary cap space for the 2022 season. Ryan is owed a $7.5 million roster bonus on March 19 and has a $16.25 million salary for the upcoming season. His $48.662 million cap hit for the 2022 season was the largest in the league heading into the new season, so Atlanta will create some much-needed space. It's unknown how much the Falcons will actually save with this restructure. The 36-year-old lost his No. 1 wide receiver, Calvin Ridley, halfway through the season and could never really recover. Ryan finished with 3,968 passing yards -- his lowest total since 2010 -- 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Heading into the final year of his deal, Ryan has become a QB2 for fantasy purposes.
