Andrelton Simmons Heading To The Cubs
3 years agoThe Chicago Cubs signed free-agent shortstop Andrelton Simmons to a one-year deal worth $4 million plus incentives on Friday. Simmons is a glove-first commodity and isn't much to look at from a fantasy perspective. The 32-year-old veteran slashed .223/.283/.274 with three home runs, 37 runs and 31 RBI over 131 games for the Minnesota Twins last year. Simmons won't be guaranteed everyday playing in 2022, either, with youngster Nico Hoerner emerging in the Cubs infield. In 10 big-league seasons, Simmons has never hit more than 17 home runs, which came all the way back in 2013 in his second MLB season with the Atlanta Braves. At a fantasy position that is ripe with power bats, Simmons doesn't hold a candle to the upper echelon at SS.
