Mets Have Done Background Work On Luke Weaver
3 years agoThe New York Mets have done some background work on Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Luke Weaver, and he could be a potential starting pitching target on the trade market leading up to the 2022 season. It's no secret that the Mets were in the market to add another starter this offseason. Weaver had a 4.25 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 62 strikeouts and 20 walks in 65 2/3 innings over 13 starts for the D-backs last season. In six major league seasons with the Diamondbacks and St. Louis Cardinals, the right-hander has recorded a 4.64 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 424 strikeouts (23.6 strikeout percentage) and 7.5% walk rate in 89 appearances (80 starts). Weaver is the No. 129 fantasy starter at RotoBaller, but a move to the Mets might make him slightly more attractive.
