Rob Gronkowski has a lot to be thankful for. On top of being best friends with Tom Brady, he has five Pro Bowl selections, four All-Pro selections, and four Super Bowl titles.
If he does decide to play in 2022, which team would make a good fit for an aging tight end with a history of injury? It would need to be a team where Gronkowski can come in as the secondary player at the position. The guy who can block like no one else but may have lost a step. And a team with a great quarterback.
Depending on free agent signings, this leads to two teams. The obvious one is the Denver Broncos. They now have Russell Wilson and Gronkowski could bring a veteran presence to the team. But this one is too easy. Not to mention, everyone has this in mind. He could always go back to Tampa Bay now that Tom Brady is unretired but if that was his plan, why hasn't he already declared his intention? Let us look at another team that could be a surprise pick.

Why Rob Gronkowski Should Go to the Green Bay Packers
They have the elite quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. With Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon behind center, they have a run game that could use some blocking and in Davante Adams, they have the best wide receiver in the NFL. Not to mention, soon, the highest-paid. This means the Packers will need an inexpensive option at the tight end position.
Robert Tonyan is a free agent. After an incredible season in 2020, he fell back to earth in 2021. Hampered by injury, he only managed 18 receptions and 204 yards in eight games. After catching a touchdown on more than 20% of his catches in 2020, he only had a total of two in 2021 in those eight games. The Green Bay Packers are likely to resign him, but they could use someone else also.
Gronkowski may be on the tail end of a Hall of Fame career, but he is still valuable. Especially for a team like Green Bay who needs offense and just the final piece of the puzzle. Gronkowski can be that.
He played in 12 games last season. In those games, he had 55 receptions for 802 yards and six touchdowns. Brady may be the greatest quarterback of all time, but Rodgers is not too far behind him in the ranks. Coming off two straight MVP seasons, Rodgers is arguably playing at the highest level of his career. Matching this duo up would be a great start and finish to a Green Bay offseason which will not have much movement.
This will also be a great situation for Gronkowski to find value in fantasy. Not only will he be on the field a majority of the time due to his blocking ability, but we also know how much Rodgers loves to hyper-target his weapons. While Adams will get the lion's share of the balls, Gronkowski is another monster in the red zone. He will garner a lot of targets near the end zone. In this offense, he could very easily achieve double-digit touchdowns in 2022. From the tight end position being as drab as it is, this would make him a top-five player at the position. At his age, the price he will fetch will be underwhelming. Taking Travis Kelce might be fun. But if you wait for six or seven rounds, you might just get the same production from Rob Gronkowski.
