3 years agoChase Elliott had one of the five or six fastest cars in practice. Even in the first qualifying session, the No. 9 car was right up with the top drivers. However, that qualifying matrix placed him out of the final group as he ended up 19th. This will put him in a nice position at Phoenix. Elliott and the Hendrick cars have enjoyed quite a run of success here. Elliott won the 2020 NASCAR title and the race during the season finale. Other than one outlier, the No. 9 has four top-tens and has led 18.12% of the laps since 2019. It is only a question of how fast does he get to the front on Sunday.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
