3 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Joe Ross (elbow) suffered a setback in his recovery this offseason and underwent surgery on March 7 to remove a bone spur from his right elbow, according to general manager Mike Rizzo. Ross is expected to miss six to eight weeks, so he'll open the 2022 season on the injured list. The 28-year-old missed the last six weeks of the 2021 season with a partial UCL tear after posting a 4.17 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 109 strikeouts and 34 walks in 108 innings (20 games). Between Ross' and Stephen Strasburg's (shoulder) injuries, the Nationals starting rotation depth will be tested early on, which is probably why they signed Anibal Sanchez to a minor league deal on Sunday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
