Jacob deGrom To Start On Opening Day
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom will be the team's Opening Day starter, according to manager Buck Showalter. deGrom threw his first bullpen session of the spring on Monday and said that he didn't have any issues with his right elbow this offseason after dealing with inflammation and a partial UCL tear in his arm in 2021. Don't expect to see the 33-year-old throw too many innings in spring training, but as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he appears to be good to go for the April 7 opener on the road against the Washington Nationals. deGrom is RotoBaller's No. 2 fantasy starter to open the year. Injuries got in the way last year, but when he was on the mound, he was still one of the best overall pitchers in baseball.
