3 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte (oblique) didn't take part in the team's workout on Monday due to oblique soreness. The good news is that X-rays came back negative, so the Mets are likely just being cautious with their free-agent acquisition early in spring training. Marte is 33 years old and may not have a high ceiling anymore in fantasy, but he was extremely productive in 2021 with the Miami Marlins and Oakland Athletics. In 526 plate appearances, he slashed .310/.383/.458 with 12 home runs, 55 RBI, 47 stolen bases and 89 runs scored in 120 games. His .372 BABIP screams regression in 2022, but he should still be able to produce reliable numbers, and you can't ignore his speed.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
