3 years agoChicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said the team doesn't expect relief pitcher Joe Kelly (biceps) to be ready for Opening Day as he continues to rehab from a nerve injury. The White Sox are likely erring on the side of caution after they recently signed the 33-year-old right-hander to a two-year, $17 million deal in free agency. Kelly initially injured his right arm in the National League Championship Series last year. The hard-throwing right-hander will serve as a setup man in Chicago's deep bullpen that also includes Craig Kimbrel, Liam Hendriks and Kendall Graveman, among others. In 44 relief innings for the Los Angeles Dodgers last year, Kelly had a 2.86 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 50 K's and 15 walks over 48 appearances in the regular season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
