Seiya Suzuki Agrees To Five-Year Deal With Cubs
3 years agoJapanese star outfielder Seiya Suzuki agreed to a five-year, $70 million deal with the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday after meeting the team's front office and chairman Tom Ricketts on Monday night. Suzuki should immediately become the Cubs starting right fielder, and he has the skills to be the highest-profile rookie bat in the big leagues in 2022. The 27-year-old has a very strong arm and is a high-quality defender in the outfielder, but he's also an advanced hitter at the plate with plenty of power. With the Hiroshima Carp last season, Suzuki hit .317/.433/.636 with a career-high 38 home runs in 132 games played. Fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting those numbers in his first MLB season, but Suzuki will surely make an impact in his rookie campaign.
