Royals Agree With Zack Greinke
3 years agoThe Kansas City Royals agreed with free-agent starting pitcher Zack Greinke on Wednesday, pending a physical, according to sources. MLB Network's Jon Heyman is reporting that Greinke will make $13 million on a one-year deal. The veteran right-hander is now 38 years old and will be returning to the team that he began his major league career with way back in 2005. Greinke made 30 appearances (29 starts) for the Houston Astros in the last two and a half years, posting a solid 4.16 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 171 innings. He'll be replacing left-hander Mike Minor, who was traded to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, in KC's rotation. The six-time All-Star will lose a lot of fantasy luster heading to Kansas City, although he'll be in a much weaker division in the AL Central.
