Buccaneers Reach Extension With Chris Godwin
3 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers reached an agreement on a three-year, $60 million contract extension with franchise-tagged wide receiver Chris Godwin on Wednesday, according to sources. The deal includes $40 million guaranteed at signing. Godwin will not be playing on the franchise tag for the second straight season. The 26-year-old is recovering from a torn ACL and sprained MCL that he suffered in Week 15 last year, and there's a good chance he won't be ready to go for Week 1 of the 2022 season. Godwin had his second 1,000-yard season in 2021 with 98 catches for 1,103 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games, but his knee injury will keep his price down this fall. He could also have more competition for target with Russell Gage now in town, but it's nice to know that quarterback Tom Brady will be back.
