Braves, Padres In Talks With Jorge Soler
3 years agoThe Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres are in talks with free-agent outfielder Jorge Soler, according to a trusted source. The Braves already re-signed postseason hero Eddie Rosario, and Soler could be next to help replace some of the power that was lost when first baseman Freddie Freeman signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Soler, 30, started last year with the Kansas City Royals before joining the Braves for 55 regular season games. In 149 games in 2021, the right-handed slugger slashed .223/.316/.432 with 27 home runs and 70 RBI in 602 plate appearances. He was much better with Atlanta, hitting .269 with 14 homers and 33 RBI. Soler has elite power -- he had a career-high 48 long balls in 2019 -- but he swings and misses too much to provide a reliable batting average in fantasy.
