Browns Expected To Sign Jacoby Brissett
3 years agoA day after trading for quarterback Deshaun Watson, the Cleveland Browns are now expected to sign free-agent quarterback Jacoby Brissett to an undisclosed one-year deal to be Watson's backup, according to sources. The Browns also traded last year's backup, Case Keenum, to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday for a seventh-round pick. With two new QBs in town, Cleveland will eventually grant Baker Mayfield his request and trade him as well. Brissett played in 11 games (five starts) for the Miami Dolphins in 2021 and threw for 1,283 yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions. He'll give the Browns some valuable insurance in case Watson is hit with a suspension from the NFL in 2022, but Brissett won't be anything more than a low-end QB2 streamer if he makes starts for the Browns in 2022.
