3 years agoFree-agent infielder/outfielder Marwin Gonzalez agreed to a minor league deal with the New York Yankees on Sunday, according to a source. Gonzalez will report to big-league camp when the deal becomes official. The 33-year-old switch-hitter was with the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros last year, combining to hit just .199/.275/.304 with five home runs, 28 RBI and 30 runs scored in 307 plate appearances over 91 games. He's played for the Astros in eight of his 10 major league seasons and is a career .256 hitter with 101 homers and 397 RBI in 1,053 games. Gonzalez can play almost any position on the diamond and will bring that versatility to the Bronx as a super-utility player off the bench.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
