3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty (shoulder) said that medical exams and video study showed some changes to his mechanics that started after his oblique strain, which led to compensation and in turn fed into his shoulder bursitis. The 26-year-old right-hander received a platelet-rich plasma injection on Friday and will not be ready by Opening Day due to a small tear in his right shoulder. He'll be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks, which is obviously a hit to his early season fantasy value. Flaherty tossed only 78 1/3 innings last year due to oblique and shoulder issues, and the injury bug hasn't gone away. He can be a solid No. 2 fantasy starter when healthy, but the risk has become more apparent.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
