Giants Sign Matt Breida
3 years agoThe New York Giants are signing former San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills running back Matt Breida to an undisclosed deal on Monday, according to a source. Breida will provide some veteran depth and speed to New York's backfield and will follow head coach Brian Daboll to the Giants from Buffalo. The 27-year-old immediately becomes the primary backup to Saquon Barkley, depending on what other backfield additions the Giants make in free agency or the draft. Breida had a career-low 26 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown and added seven receptions for 72 yards and two more TDs in nine games (zero starts) in his lone season with the Bills in 2021. As of right now, he'll strictly be a fantasy handcuff for those that have the oft-injured Barkley rostered.
