Ketel Marte Expected To Make Spring Debut Tuesday
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo expects second baseman Ketel Marte (eye) to make his first Cactus League appearance on Tuesday as the designated hitter. Marte suffered from eye irritation due to his contact lenses and was held out of workouts the first few days of camp. He has been taking live batting practice and fielding high-intensity ground balls, so it looks like he's ready to go. Marte was an All-Star in 2019 but played in only 90 games last season due to injury. But when he was on the field, the 28-year-old switch-hitter slashed .318/.377/.532 with 14 home runs, 50 RBI and 52 runs scored in 374 plate appearances. Marte should be fully healthy heading to Opening Day and ranks as RotoBaller's No. 8 fantasy second baseman.
