Joey Gallo Gets $10.275 Million From Yankees
3 years agoThe New York Yankees avoided salary arbitration with outfielder Joey Gallo on Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $10.275 million deal. Gallo is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2022 season. The left-handed slugger began the year with the Texas Rangers before being traded to New York, where he hit .160/.303/.404 with 13 home runs and 22 RBI in 58 games. Overall, the two-time All-Star slashed .199/.351/.458 with 38 homers, 77 RBI, six steals and 90 runs in 616 plate appearances. He also led the league with 213 strikeouts and 111 walks. The 28-year-old could see a fantasy boost with the league's move to ban shifts moving forward, but in the end, Gallo is an elite power bat that won't help your batting average at all.
