Colts Restructure Matt Ryan's Contract
3 years agoThe Indianapolis Colts converted $12 million of new quarterback Matt Ryan's 2022 compensation into a signing bonus, creating $6 million in salary cap space for this year, according to a source. Ryan's salary cap number drops to $18,705,882 for this year, giving the Colts more cap space to make more moves this offseason. Indianapolis' yearly QB carousel continues this year after they gave up on Carson Wentz, traded him to the Washington Commanders and acquired Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons. Matty Ice should be an upgrade over Wentz, although he's heading into his age-37 season in a run-first offense in Indy. He could certainly improve on his 2021 campaign, but fantasy managers considering him as a QB1 should temper expectations.
