Browns Might Have To Eat Money To Trade Baker Mayfield
3 years agoIt does not seem like any teams are interested in trading for Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield at his $18 million base salary for the 2022 season, so Cleveland may have to cover part of his salary to facilitate a trade. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport doesn't get the sense that the Browns will straight up release Mayfield after trading for Deshaun Watson and signing backup Jacoby Brissett. There's a scenario in which the Browns actually keep Mayfield as an insurance policy in case Watson is suspended by the NFL for sexual-assault allegations. However, even if Mayfield stays in Cleveland and makes some starts for the Browns if Watson is suspended, he will be ignored in the vast majority of fantasy formats.
