Starling Marte To Play Sunday
3 years agoUpdating a previous report, New York Mets outfielder Starling Marte (oblique) will play in Sunday's Grapefruit League game, according to manager Buck Showalter. Marte has been dealing with a sore left oblique since the start of camp, but he hit off a tee earlier this week and got into a minor league game on Wednesday. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks in game action, the 33-year-old should be ready to go for Opening Day. Marte had an MLB-leading 47 stolen bases last year while also hitting .310/.383/.458 with 12 home runs, 55 RBI and 89 runs scored in 120 games for the Miami Marlins and Oakland Athletics last season. He's a top-10 fantasy outfielder, mainly for his speed, but he'll also be hitting in a much better lineup this year in New York.
